New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy begins a sexy new contemporary romance series—perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Emma Chase—that introduces three sisters born to wealth, raised to succeed, ready to love, destined to make waves.
I’ve moved through life doing what’s expected of me. I’m the middle daughter, the dutiful daughter. The one who braved a vicious attack and survived. The one who devoted herself to her family’s business empire. The one who met an ambitious man and fell in love. We were going to run Fleur Cosmetics together, Zachary and I.
Until he got a promotion and left me in the dust. Maybe it’s for the best, between his disloyalty and his wandering eye. But another man was waiting for me. Wanting me. He too has an overwhelming thirst for success, just like Zachary—perhaps even more so. He’s also ruthless. And mysterious. I know nothing about Ryder McKay beyond that he makes me feel things I’ve never felt before.
One stolen moment, a kiss, a touch . . . and I’m hooked. Ryder’s like a powerful drug, and I’m an addict who doesn’t want to be cured. He tells me his intentions aren’t pure, and I believe him. For once, I don’t care. I’m willing to risk everything just to be with him. Including my heart. My soul.
I got an ARC of this book so here is my review:
I was really excited to read this book. I have heard great things, but was also worried that it wouldn’t live up to all the hype.
I was really was surprised by this book. It wasn’t what I was expecting. I really loved it though. I have read other books by Monica Murphy and loved them and this one did not disappoint.
I really liked the pace of the story. The plot was good, but it was obvious that there is things going on with her sisters that I am sure the other books will reveal. The only problem is that I want to know right now!
Violet was sweet, but also naïve in the beginning. I just really didn’t understand why she put up with her boyfriend, but I also get that it was all part of the character. I liked her though. She was very cute. She eventually gets some more backbone, which was good to see. I just hate how everyone seems to use her throughout the book.
Ryder was great. He is probably one of my favorite new guys. He has such a dark side and she accepts it completely. He doesn’t change and I really liked the insight into his ‘darker side’. I thought that Monica Murphy did a really good job with him.
The chapters go from alternating POV, which I really liked. I like getting into both characters heads. The relationship that Violet has with her father seems complicated and I wish we could have gotten more insight into it. Also we never meet the grandmother which I thought was an important thing. Maybe she will show up later. Also I kept expecting something to come of another plot and it never did. That was not necessarily disappointing, but weird.
This was a GREAT start to the Fowler Sisters series! I can’t wait to read the next one and where the other plots that appear in this one go! 5/5 stars!
Note: I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review!
